Disclaimer: I own neither Christmas nor Arashi

Summary: Their shared apartment looked like Christmas had thrown up in it; he could hardly move between creepy Santa statues and stuffed bears wearing knitted hats that were strewn across the floor like landmines.

A/N: Welcome to my random Arashi Christmas Drabbles - each under 1000 words long. How many there will be is also random – depending on my level of Christmasosity (and yes I know that’s not a word).

"C'mon Jun, this tree will be perfect," Nino chirped as he gestured to the oversize pine tree that was towering in the corner of the Christmas tree lot.

"Did you swap bodies with Aiba in some freaky experiment while I was away?" Jun asked, backing away from him with an exaggerated expression of horror on his face.

He had returned from filming a commercial in Okinawa the night before and had almost strangled himself on the tinsel that Nino had strung across the entryway. Their shared apartment looked like Christmas had thrown up in it; he could hardly move between creepy Santa statues and stuffed bears wearing knitted hats that were strewn across the floor like landmines.

"I am merely embracing the spirit of the season," Nino replied with a slightly offended expression.

"Since when?" Jun asked incredulously.

"Since you said that I should try harder to spend more time with you doing romantic type things. And what could be more romantic than Christmas?" Nino snickered. He reached into his backpack and pulled out a thermos flask, "Hot chocolate?" After further rummaging he pulled out a crinkly plastic bag. "Marshmallow? And then when you're done, you can drag the tree over and tie it on the roof of the car."

Jun knew that Nino was just trying to get under his skin but there was no way that he was ever going to let him win. Nino had always made fun of Jun's love for all things Christmas, refusing to show any pleasure in his meticulously arranged plans, and begrudgingly joining in with a patronizing smile.

"Perfect. I'm sure that it will look stunning in the living room. Of course we may have to move the television and your gaming consoles out of the way, but that will be fine won't it?" Jun replied with a wide smile.

Nino, trapped into a corner, could only plaster a smile onto his own face as he nodded his agreement.

After that things soon began to spiral out of control. Every time either of them came home there would be yet another new decoration jostling for space in their already overcrowded apartment. There were carved wooden reindeer pulling miniature sleighs, snowmen made from foam, hundreds of meters of tinsel, and even more brightly coloured baubles than could be counted. It seemed that the main rules of this undeclared war was the tackier the better and why only buy one when the shop has six for sale?

Nino almost broke his ankle one evening when he came home and couldn't be bothered to put the light on. He stood on a few stray baubles that took his feet out from under him, but fortunately his fall was broken by the life sized inflatable Santa that he landed on. To his dismay the horrendously creepy thing didn't even go flat when he squashed it; instead it righted itself immediately and resumed looking back at him with its infuriatingly cheerful expression.

Jun was sick of finding bits of glitter sticking to everything, including his food. He vaguely wondered if it was toxic, but he was so used to it by now that he didn't even bother to brush it off anymore, he just swallowed it down and decided that if it killed him then he would have a least escaped from this insane overload of Christmas cheer that they had trapped themselves in.

By the time the day before Christmas Eve arrived, they didn't even bother to try and eat at home anymore. Not since Jun hadn't seen the set of glow in the dark plastic Christmas trees in the oven and melted them into a blob of black goo that he couldn't get off no matter how he tried. And anyway, the fridge was full of plastic wrapped fruit cakes and bottles of eggnog.

The odd thing was that their lives outside of this insane competition remained as normal (apart from their sex life that is - it's hard to feel romantic when Rudolf and his reindeer pals are watching you intently from the foot of the bed. But they worked around this quite easily. There was always a secluded room available at work somewhere).

But when they reached their front door, depressed by the thought that they were free to enjoy some time off at home until New Years Eve, neither of them could bring themselves to open it.

After glaring at each other for a full five minutes, Jun eventually caved in and opened the door with a deep sigh. He would probably have gotten a concussion from the giant candy cane that toppled towards him from the pile if Nino hadn't pushed him out of the way.

Nino grabbed Jun and dragged him into the hallway before slamming the door shut behind them, barely escaping the toppling avalanche of Christmas junk that threatened to crush them both.

As they stood leaning against the door trying to catch their breath Jun asked, “Five star hotel with room service until Boxing Day, my treat?"

"Perfect," agreed Nino.

"But what about all this stuff? It will still be there when we get back." Jun asked nervously.

"Not if I ring Aiba and tell him to come and collect his surprise birthday presents," Nino said with a wicked grin.

"And that's exactly why I love you," Jun said, pulling him in for a kiss.
