Disclaimer: I own neither Christmas nor Arashi
Summary: Nino's love of money almost outweighed his love of gaming, but not quite.
A/N: Welcome to my random Arashi Christmas Drabbles - each under 1000 words long. How many there will be is also random – depending on my level of Christmasosity (if you say it out loud often enough it almost sounds like a real word).
"Got it!"
"Mine at last!"
Two hands landed on the garishly coloured case which contained the must-have game of the holiday season.
One hand had extremely pale stumpy fingers and the other smoothly elegant ones. They each claimed exactly half of the last copy available in the last minute of the last shopping hour on the last day before Christmas.
Two sets of eyes glared at each other across the packaging as each hand tugged the case in the opposite direction. The dark pair of eyes belonging to the smaller guy glared venomously at the determined looking large round eyes of the other.
"I think you will find that I was here first," the one with the big round eyes and whose name was Sho, said with a steely glare.
"No way, this baby is all mine," snarled the stumpy-fingered Nino with narrowed eyes.
"Excuse me gentlemen, but the store is closing now. If you wish to make a purchase please bring it to the register or I'm afraid you will have to leave and return after Christmas." The store assistant was eager to close up and rush home to spend the holiday with his own family.
After struggling for a few seconds, neither willing to let go, Sho came up with a temporary solution. "What if we each pay for half and then go somewhere to decide who gets to keep it?"
Nino hated to back down but didn't want to miss out completely if they were evicted from the store before coming to a decision. "Ok," he sighed. "But I get to carry the package."
"Fine," Sho agreed with a slight roll of his eyes.
++++
They warily stirred their coffees, both eyeing the package set exactly an equal distance between them on the table top.
"So..."
"So..."
"It's for my niece. She will be devastated if I don't get it for her," Sho said, looking at Nino with pleading eyes.
Nino found Sho's eyes and indeed his face to be most attractive, but remained firm. "No chance, I've been waiting for this for months. I had one pre-ordered but my idiot roommate Aiba let his dog chew on it"
"I'll pay you triple," Sho said.
Nino's love of money almost outweighed his love of gaming, but not quite. "No chance."
They sat in the coffee shop until the waitress told them it was closing.
Sho had asked about Nino's apparently crazy roommate and received a long litany of complaints which included an apparent attempt to breed frogs in the bathtub and sell them as pets.
Nino had listened with half an ear to Sho's talk of his job at an accounting firm, finding himself distracted by the man's prominent cheekbones and plumply kissable looking lips.
But all of their talk had still brought them no closer to a solution to their problem.
A joint decision was therefore made to move the discussions to a nearby bar.
++++
After more than a few beers the package was still sitting on the table between them unable to be claimed by either of them.
Over the course of the evening Nino had found Sho to be more and more attractive and it wasn’t just because of the alcohol they were both consuming. The older man was charming and good natured and surprisingly funny under his businessman guise. He had removed his suit jacket and rolled up his sleeves to reveal muscular arms with prominent veins (one of Nino’s weaknesses).
Sho also, was finding himself oddly attracted to the small man sitting opposite him. There seemed to be a very big personality contained in a very petite sized body. He kept finding himself staring at the cute mole on Nino’s chin, watching with fascination at the way that it danced when he spoke. His intelligent eyes sparked with life and made Sho feel more energised that he had been in a very long time.
This tension peaked when they both moved to pick up one of the squid skewers they had ordered to soak up some of the alcohol and their fingers touched. A spark of pure electricity shot between them and suddenly their desires overcame them as their eyes met.
As Nino went to move his hand away Sho gripped his thin wrist anchoring him firmly in place. Sho moved forwards until their mouths were almost touching as he spoke at close enough to make his warm breath puff softly against Nino’s lips. “My place?”
Nino shook his head as he breathlessly replied, “No time. Love hotel. There’s one two doors up. If you pay I’ll definitely make it worth your while.”
“Now?”
“Now.”
They hastily grabbed their coats and Sho threw a fistful of money on the table which more than covered the bill before he possessively steered Nino out of the bar with an arm wrapped firmly around his waist.
++++
A few minutes later the waiter slowly made his way over to clear the table, yawning as he went. As he stacked the plates and wiped the tabletop he found that the customers had left him a large monetary tip and something else besides.
Ohno picked up the game case and his eyes opened in wonder. It was the game that he’d tried to purchase for his son before starting his shift and he’d been told that they were all sold out. He knew that thanks to the kindness of two random strangers, his wife and son were going to have the most perfect Christmas ever.
