Summary: The door to the apartment next to Jun had been flung open and a tall brown haired man stood there with a disapproving look on his face as he tried once again to grab the cat which was now hissing at him at the same time as it clawed its way inexorably towards his crotch.
“What the…? Ow!”
It had been a long day and all Jun wanted was to eat his takeaway and maybe drink a beer or two before collapsing into bed and doing it all over again tomorrow. The last thing he’d expected was to be attacked by a crazed cat which was currently using his left leg as a climbing frame. He could feel its razor sharp claws shredding his skin through the thin fabric of his trousers as he tried to shake it off. In fact the more he tried to remove it the worse it got and when he reached down to grab it a paw lashed out and slashed the skin on the back of his hand causing him to yelp with pain and stumble against the wall. He’d only just made it out of the elevator and started walking along the hallway towards his apartment when the furry missile had attacked.
“Bad Cupid, you know you shouldn’t leave the apartment by yourself! Stop playing with the nice man now and come straight home!”
The door to the apartment next to Jun’s had been flung open and a tall brown haired man stood there with a disapproving look on his face as he tried once again to grab the cat which was now hissing at him at the same time as it clawed its way inexorably towards his crotch.
“Don’t grab at Cupid like that. You might frighten him. What if you hurt him?” The man said as he came towards Jun and clicked his fingers. Instantly the cat dropped to the floor and ran to him, hiding itself behind his legs with only its head visible. Even from this distance it continued to glare at Jun with a baleful expression.
“Not hurt HIM? What about ME?” Jun complained as he held up a hand that was dripping with blood; he could feel it trickling down his leg as well.
The other man’s expression instantly changed to one of concern as he surged forwards, grabbing Jun’s injured hand.
“Aaargh! Ow!” Jun squawked as he tried to pull his hand out of the overenthusiastic grip.
“You’re hurt.”
Jun wanted to say something snarky about the other man pointing out the completely obvious, but when he looked up at him, the expression on his face was so sincere and caring and his eyes were so gentle that the words froze in his throat.
“It’s nothing. Just a few scratches,” Jun said, ignoring the stinging pain and wondering why he was beginning to experience a warm feeling in his stomach just from having his hand held by this attractive man.
“It’s more than nothing. You’re bleeding, and I’d hate for you to get an infection. Come inside and I’ll get my first aid kit and fix you up.” the man said, tugging Jun towards his open door before adding excitedly “I’m your new neighbour, by the way. I just moved in today and I’m pleased to be making friends already. My name is Aiba Maskai and this is my cat Cupid.” He said, letting go of Jun momentarily to gesture towards the cat which immediately flattened his ears and shot past Jun into the apartment tangling in his feet on the way and almost knocking him over.
Masaki instinctively wrapped a hand around Jun’s waist to steady him and they ended up nose to nose in the doorway. Two pairs of brown eyes locked and two hearts began to beat just that bit faster until Jun realized that he was being held in a close embrace by a complete stranger and pulled away, the tips of his ears turning red.
“M-matsumoto Jun,” Jun blurted out, trying to mask his emotions.
“Pleased to meet you Jun-kun, I’m sure we are going to get along famously.”
Jun gulped at the use of his first name, but decided that it was ok because even though they had only just met, it felt as if they had somehow known each other for a lifetime.
“Thank you Masaki-kun,” he replied, offering up a shy smile.

The apartment was awash with cardboard boxes and plastic wrapped pieces of furniture. Masaki sat Jun down on the sturdiest looking carton as he set to rummaging in another box marked “bathroom stuff”. Soon assorted items were being flung onto the floor as he delved ever deeper into the box. Cupid pounced on some loose cotton balls and began batting them across the floor managing to look cute even to Jun, who wasn’t exactly his biggest fan.
Cupid, tiring of the cotton balls, picked up a couple of small crinkly packets in his mouth and carried them over to a surprised Jun, dropping them at this feet before sitting and looking at him expectantly. He’d never seen a cat fetch something in that way before so he bent down to see what the feline had brought him as a gift. He recoiled in embarrassment when he realized that one of the items was a foil wrapped condom and the other a small packet of lube. If he hadn’t known better he would have thought that the cat was smiling at his discomfort.
“A-ha, found it,” Masaki said, triumphantly brandishing a small red first aid kit as he turned towards Jun, who hastily pocketed the condom and lube, not wanting his new neighbour to think that he was some sort of pervert.
He walked over to Jun and took his uninjured hand, leading him over to the sink saying “Let’s just give it a quick wash first before I bandage it for you.”
Jun once again found himself unable to resist as Masaki ran water over his hand and then patted it dry with some sheets of kitchen towel. The quite deep scratches were still oozing blood, so Masaki pressed the paper firmly against Jun’s skin and waited for the blood to stop soaking through it.
“You have such beautiful long fingers,” Aiba said "I bet you do something really artistic for a job."
"Err, not really. My friends and I run a small photographic studio. Sho does the paperwork, Nino drums up business, and I mostly spend all of my time taking photos of babies and small children dressed in supposedly cute outfits and trying not to make them cry. I do take photos of landscapes in my spare time though." Jun responded "Perhaps you could come over and look at my portfolio some time?"
Masaki chuckled "Why Jun-kun are you propositioning me?"
Jun couldn't believe how cheesy he'd sounded; it really had been an innocent remark that had come out the wrong way.
"Um, no of course not!" Jun stuttered "I mean, not that I don't think you're nice and all, but we've only just met and..." His words tailed off as he realized that he was probably making an even bigger fool of himself.
"It's fine. Don't worry, I'm sure that my virtue is safe with you," Masaki said with a rather cute attempt at a wink.
Jun, who wasn't so sure about that if the twitching in his trousers every time Masaki touched him was any indicator, laughed nervously.
"It all sounds very interesting," Masaki added, deciding to let Jun off the hook for now. "I work at a bakery and I'm sure my boss Ohno-san wouldn't mind if I drop you guys some muffins off one day and you could show me around while I'm there."
Jun, was now trying to not think of anything that might increase his problem in the trouser department merely hummed in agreement as he waited for Masaki to finish treating his scratches. And speaking of trousers, he was suddenly reminded of the scratches on his thigh and for an insane moment he toyed with the idea of asking Masaki to tend to them before once again coming to his senses.

They had been talking for quite a while when Jun heard Masaki's stomach rumble.
"I'm so sorry. I've kept you from your dinner,” Jun said, standing up and edging towards the door.
"It's fine. I was planning on ordering something in when I manage to find my phone. It's in amongst these boxes somewhere." Masaki replied with a rueful shrug.
Jun suddenly remembered his bag of food, which was sitting near his shoes in the genkan. There was more than enough for two and it would give him the chance to extend his time with this bewitching man. He felt his stomach give another happy little flip as his offer was immediately accepted and he was rewarded with a smile bright enough to put the sun to shame.
"I'm not sure if I know where my plates are..."
“Err, perhaps you could come to my apartment instead?”
Masaki looked at Cupid who was sitting hunched up in a disapproving ball and glaring at Jun and immediately agreed.
“You go first. I’ll just feed Cupid and then I’ll join you. I’ll bring a bottle of wine with me if you like?”
Jun edged away from Cupid who was swishing his tail in a threatening manner saying “That would be great. I’ll see you in five.”
After Jun had left, Masaki went over to Cupid who was now lying on his back purring as if he knew he’d done a good job. He picked him up and rubbed his face across the soft fur saying “Good boy. You’ve always had excellent taste in men. I think this one is definitely a keeper. But you are going to have to learn to share me if this is going to work out.”
Cupid looked at him with narrowed eyes, as if he begged to differ, but his master looked so happy about the prospect of having a new friend that he decided to try and put up with him just for now. But he could always use him as a scratching post again later if hr did anything to hurt his beloved Masaki.

After that first evening things progressed between them quite quickly. Masaki had visited the studio laden with more varieties of muffins than anyone would believe existed while taking every opportunity to touch Jun possessively. Jun's friends had teased him mercilessly after that and Sho had even been more than a little jealous of his good fortune to have accidentally stumbled across such a prize catch.
The only bump in their romance was Cupid who still hated Jun with a passion. Jun had even tried bribing him with a fluffy catnip mouse which Cupid had greeted with enthusiasm rubbing his face against it and purring. Jun was almost preparing his victory dance when Cupid seemed to come to his senses and disdainfully pushed the toy under the sofa before marching over to sit on Masaki's lap for the rest of the evening growling deep in his throat if Jun edged too close to his master.

A few weeks later on a stormy day, Jun had almost made it back to their building through the pouring rain on his way home from work when he received a hysterical call from Masaki. He was sobbing so hard that Jun couldn't make out what he was saying. Jun ran the rest of the way his heart pounding in fear for Masaki's welfare, ignoring the elevator which was up on the top floor in favour of running up the stairs instead.
The door to Masaki's apartment was open and Jun's boyfriend was standing looking frantically up and down the hallway with tears running down his cheeks.
"Masaki?"
The hysterical man flung himself on Jun sobbing "He's gone. Cupid's missing."
"Shhh, there there, just breathe,” Jun said hugging him tightly and patting his back "Are you sure?"
"When I came home there was a big clap of thunder just as I opened the door and Cupid shot past me. He's always been afraid of storms since he was a kitten and now he's gone and he hasn't come back yet." Masaki said looking at Jun with sad and pleading eyes.
Jun made an instant decision. He picked up his umbrella before saying "You stay here and search the building and I'll look outside for him. He can't have got far."
He gave his boyfriend a reassuring kiss before heading back out into the storm. Just because he and Cupid didn't get on didn't mean that he wanted anything bad to happen to Masaki's beloved pet.
As soon as Jun stepped out onto the pavement a gust of wind ripped his umbrella to shreds. He thought about going back up to fetch his raincoat but the memory of Masaki's beautiful almond eyes brimming with tears made him decide to forge on.
Within a few minutes he was soaked and freezing as he trudged up the street calling for Cupid which was attracting more than a few strange looks from the few people still left out on the streets.
After twenty minutes of fruitless searching he was heading back towards home when he heard a terrible racket coming from down a dark alley as he passed by. He immediately turned and ran back towards the noise.

Masaki was devastated as he paced across his living room, casting anxious glances towards the open doorway which he had left open in case Cupid came back by himself. He had searched the entire building and asked anyone who was at home if they had seen Cupid. He had been nowhere to be found and he was becoming more anxious with every passing minute. To make matters worse, Jun had been gone for almost an hour now and there had been no word from him either. If anything the storm had worsened; the repeated flashes of lightning made it seem like daylight outside.
"Masaki?"
Masaki jumped at suddenly hearing Jun's voice behind him. He turned to see a very wet and bedraggled Jun, so wet that water was dripping off him and pooling at his feet. His heart seemed to stop for a second as he realized his boyfriend was empty handed, and he couldn't suppress the sob that came from his throat at the thought of Cupid out there alone in the storm.
He started to drag himself towards Jun to thank him for at least trying when his boyfriend's face broke into a grin as he unbuttoned his jacket slightly and a small black furry head popped out and looked at Masaki with glowing green eyes.
"Cupid!"
Masaki rushed forward and took the slightly shame faced cat from Jun's arms, nuzzling his face into the soft warm fur. Cupid nuzzled him back purring like an engine. After a few minutes of cuddling him and checking him for injuries, Masaki realized that Jun was still standing there shivering hard, water running from his sodden hair down his face.
Masaki carefully closed the door and put Cupid down in his basket before going to Jun's aid. He quickly stripped the wet jacket off him, astonished when he saw that Jun wasn't wearing a shirt.
"Jun?"
"Oh, Cupid was wet so I took it off to dry him before I tucked him inside my jacket." Jun responded as if it was nothing, but his voice shook and his teeth chattered as he spoke.
Masaki could feel that Jun's skin was icy and immediately steered him to the bathroom. When he was settled in a tub full of steaming water clutching a mug of hot tea, Jun was able to continue his story.
"Cupid was hiding in an alley, he was completely soaked and he was being threatened by a big ginger tom. I managed to chase it away, but it put up quite a fight," Jun said as he held up both hands which were scratched quite badly.
Masaki looked at him with adoration, his gentle brown eyes one again welling up with tears. The fact that Jun had gone to all that trouble to save Cupid, who had only ever treated him with at best disdain and on his worst day with spite, made him feel as if he was the luckiest man alive to have someone so wonderful in his life.
He took Jun's face in both hands and kissed him deeply and tenderly trying to convey his feelings of love and gratitude. When he pulled away they were both slightly breathless and Jun's cheeks had returned to a normal healthy pink.
"Are you hungry, or would you rather go straight to bed?" Aiba asked as ran his hand slowly down Jun's cheek.
"Um, here, now?" Jun asked hesitantly. He and Masaki had never slept together before. They had kissed of course, but so far things hadn't gone any further and he certainly hadn't thought of doing it at Masaki's place with the possibility of being ambushed by Cupid in the middle of things, but his boyfriend was looking at him with such a look of yearning and desire that he couldn't help feeling aroused in return.
Misreading Jun's hesitation Aiba tried to pull away saying "Forget it. If you don't want to..."
Jun held his hand tightly saying "Of course I want to. I've wanted you from the first moment I saw you."
Masaki blushed and smiled shyly before kissing Jun again. He helped the younger man out of the tub before drying him with a fluffy towel, which took a long time since it also involved quite a lot of kissing and gentle touches.
Jun was tucked snugly into bed before Masaki dashed off for a lightning speed shower feeling unclean as he had been rummaging in the rubbish in the basement earlier during his frantic search for Cupid.
He almost slipped and broke his neck in his haste to return to the naked and willing Jun who was waiting patiently in his bed as he scrubbed himself clean in record time, but he screeched to a halt when he made it back to the bedroom, deeply shocked by the sight before him.
Jun was lying in a nest of pillows in the middle of the bed with Cupid sitting on his bare chest, paws kneading beneath him as he mewed softly and purred , his eyes squeezed shut in ecstasy while Jun rubbed underneath his chin with a gentle finger.
At first Masaki was thrilled by the sight of them getting on so well together but he soon remembered why he was naked and why Jun who was also naked was in his bed in the first place and with a quick apology to Cupid he tried to lift him from his cozy perch. Jun immediately winced in pain as the cat dug his claws into his chest, refusing to leave his hero and new best friend. Apologizing profusely to Jun, Masaki spoke firmly to his pet about needing some alone time while stroking him from head to tail making him once again limp and purry. When he was sure that Cupid was happy again he unceremoniously picked him up and carried him out of the room, plopping him down in his basket and bribing him with the catnip mouse that he retrieved from under the sofa before shutting the door to his bedroom to ensure some quality time with his boyfriend.
Cupid played with his mouse for a while before he was overcome with exhaustion; it had been a very stressful day for him, but he now wholeheartedly approved of Masaki's man. The only problem was the noises that were now coming from behind the bedroom door were keeping him awake, so he curled himself into a tiny ball with his paws and tail over his ears and fell into a deep contented sleep, happy in the knowledge that he now had two people to care for him and love him.
A/N: So this is week two of my extended purple month and this time a very lucky Aiba got to play with the birthday boy after Ohno’s turn last week. It only seems fair that everyone gets at least one story each with him this month. So stay tuned for Nino's chance next week.

He gave his boyfriend a reassuring kiss before heading back out into the storm. Just because he and Cupid didn't get on didn't mean that he wanted anything bad to happen to Masaki's beloved pet.
As soon as Jun stepped out onto the pavement a gust of wind ripped his umbrella to shreds. He thought about going back up to fetch his raincoat but the memory of Masaki's beautiful almond eyes brimming with tears made him decide to forge on.
Within a few minutes he was soaked and freezing as he trudged up the street calling for Cupid which was attracting more than a few strange looks from the few people still left out on the streets.
After twenty minutes of fruitless searching he was heading back towards home when he heard a terrible racket coming from down a dark alley as he passed by. He immediately turned and ran back towards the noise.

Masaki was devastated as he paced across his living room, casting anxious glances towards the open doorway which he had left open in case Cupid came back by himself. He had searched the entire building and asked anyone who was at home if they had seen Cupid. He had been nowhere to be found and he was becoming more anxious with every passing minute. To make matters worse, Jun had been gone for almost an hour now and there had been no word from him either. If anything the storm had worsened; the repeated flashes of lightning made it seem like daylight outside.
"Masaki?"
Masaki jumped at suddenly hearing Jun's voice behind him. He turned to see a very wet and bedraggled Jun, so wet that water was dripping off him and pooling at his feet. His heart seemed to stop for a second as he realized his boyfriend was empty handed, and he couldn't suppress the sob that came from his throat at the thought of Cupid out there alone in the storm.
He started to drag himself towards Jun to thank him for at least trying when his boyfriend's face broke into a grin as he unbuttoned his jacket slightly and a small black furry head popped out and looked at Masaki with glowing green eyes.
"Cupid!"
Masaki rushed forward and took the slightly shame faced cat from Jun's arms, nuzzling his face into the soft warm fur. Cupid nuzzled him back purring like an engine. After a few minutes of cuddling him and checking him for injuries, Masaki realized that Jun was still standing there shivering hard, water running from his sodden hair down his face.
Masaki carefully closed the door and put Cupid down in his basket before going to Jun's aid. He quickly stripped the wet jacket off him, astonished when he saw that Jun wasn't wearing a shirt.
"Jun?"
"Oh, Cupid was wet so I took it off to dry him before I tucked him inside my jacket." Jun responded as if it was nothing, but his voice shook and his teeth chattered as he spoke.
Masaki could feel that Jun's skin was icy and immediately steered him to the bathroom. When he was settled in a tub full of steaming water clutching a mug of hot tea, Jun was able to continue his story.
"Cupid was hiding in an alley, he was completely soaked and he was being threatened by a big ginger tom. I managed to chase it away, but it put up quite a fight," Jun said as he held up both hands which were scratched quite badly.
Masaki looked at him with adoration, his gentle brown eyes one again welling up with tears. The fact that Jun had gone to all that trouble to save Cupid, who had only ever treated him with at best disdain and on his worst day with spite, made him feel as if he was the luckiest man alive to have someone so wonderful in his life.
He took Jun's face in both hands and kissed him deeply and tenderly trying to convey his feelings of love and gratitude. When he pulled away they were both slightly breathless and Jun's cheeks had returned to a normal healthy pink.
"Are you hungry, or would you rather go straight to bed?" Aiba asked as ran his hand slowly down Jun's cheek.
"Um, here, now?" Jun asked hesitantly. He and Masaki had never slept together before. They had kissed of course, but so far things hadn't gone any further and he certainly hadn't thought of doing it at Masaki's place with the possibility of being ambushed by Cupid in the middle of things, but his boyfriend was looking at him with such a look of yearning and desire that he couldn't help feeling aroused in return.
Misreading Jun's hesitation Aiba tried to pull away saying "Forget it. If you don't want to..."
Jun held his hand tightly saying "Of course I want to. I've wanted you from the first moment I saw you."
Masaki blushed and smiled shyly before kissing Jun again. He helped the younger man out of the tub before drying him with a fluffy towel, which took a long time since it also involved quite a lot of kissing and gentle touches.
Jun was tucked snugly into bed before Masaki dashed off for a lightning speed shower feeling unclean as he had been rummaging in the rubbish in the basement earlier during his frantic search for Cupid.
He almost slipped and broke his neck in his haste to return to the naked and willing Jun who was waiting patiently in his bed as he scrubbed himself clean in record time, but he screeched to a halt when he made it back to the bedroom, deeply shocked by the sight before him.
Jun was lying in a nest of pillows in the middle of the bed with Cupid sitting on his bare chest, paws kneading beneath him as he mewed softly and purred , his eyes squeezed shut in ecstasy while Jun rubbed underneath his chin with a gentle finger.
At first Masaki was thrilled by the sight of them getting on so well together but he soon remembered why he was naked and why Jun who was also naked was in his bed in the first place and with a quick apology to Cupid he tried to lift him from his cozy perch. Jun immediately winced in pain as the cat dug his claws into his chest, refusing to leave his hero and new best friend. Apologizing profusely to Jun, Masaki spoke firmly to his pet about needing some alone time while stroking him from head to tail making him once again limp and purry. When he was sure that Cupid was happy again he unceremoniously picked him up and carried him out of the room, plopping him down in his basket and bribing him with the catnip mouse that he retrieved from under the sofa before shutting the door to his bedroom to ensure some quality time with his boyfriend.
Cupid played with his mouse for a while before he was overcome with exhaustion; it had been a very stressful day for him, but he now wholeheartedly approved of Masaki's man. The only problem was the noises that were now coming from behind the bedroom door were keeping him awake, so he curled himself into a tiny ball with his paws and tail over his ears and fell into a deep contented sleep, happy in the knowledge that he now had two people to care for him and love him.
A/N: So this is week two of my extended purple month and this time a very lucky Aiba got to play with the birthday boy after Ohno’s turn last week. It only seems fair that everyone gets at least one story each with him this month. So stay tuned for Nino's chance next week.
