I think that as he drifted away, he became less aware of their presence, because it seems like Nino had nagged Sho repeatedly about not being there when he visited.

I understand Sho not wanting to see him that way but perhaps Jun might have returned to them sooner if he had visited him before then.

This is the first time I've written a story in this style and I was quite surprised as to where it even came from.
